Jay Leno is wasting no time getting back on that proverbial horse.
In photos obtained by Page Six exclusively, Leno, 72, is seen pulling into his famed Los Angeles garage, where he stores his dozens of prized vintage vehicles, in a Mercedes-Benz E55 on Tuesday.
Scarring from third-degree burns to his face & h&s was clearly visible as he got back behind the wheel.
As previously reported, the former “Tonight Show” host was working on his 1907 White Steam Car in his garage when a fuel leak & a simultaneous spark in the 115-year-old automobile triggered an explosion.
He was immediately transported to the Grossman Burn Center & stayed there for 10 days to treat burns to his face, chest & h&s.
Among the various forms of treatment he received were two grafting procedures to remove unhealthy tissue & promote healing, & numerous hyperbaric chamber sessions to decrease swelling, increase blood flow & kill bacteria.
The “Jay Leno’s Garage” host “will receive follow-up care at the Grossman Outpatient Burn Clinic,” doctors shared in a press release Monday.
Dr. Peter Grossman personally added that he’s “pleased” with Leno’s progress & is “optimistic” that the comic will make a full recovery.
“As I’m getting to know Jay, I don’t think it’s going to be months,” Grossman shared. “I think he’s the kind of guy who’s gonna move forward.”
Leno himself made the same prediction in a statement to Page Six just one day after the horrifying ordeal.
“I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire,” he explained on Nov. 14. “I am OK. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet.”
