Around 1.3 million rupees ($18,500) in chewed-up cash was discovered by Indian bank workers investigating a broken-down automated teller machine earlier this month. Additionally, a dead mouse was found.
The branch manager at the State Bank of India’s Tinsukia location, Chandan Sharma, told Reuters that the automated teller machine (ATM) had been out of commission for a few days. When our technicians unlocked the kiosk, they were astonished to discover shredded bills and a dead rat.
This unusual occurrence has prompted us to initiate an inquiry, and we will take steps to ensure that it does not happen again.

Apparently, the rat entered inside the machine via a tiny hole that was intended for wiring, as stated by a police superintendent to Sky News. The rodent went on to consume paper until it was unable to consume any more. Out of the total of $42,685 that was contained inside the machine, about $25,000 was retrieved in its whole.
